I’ve never read the “Perez Hilton’s” blog, although everyone I talk to seems to think he’s a big douche, and maybe he is.
But I have a real problem with “don’t run your mouth or you’ll get the smack-down” ethic. I thought we left that behind in grade school. What you’re saying is, your right to criticize someone is limited by your ability to take him in a brawl.
Is this a conservative principle? If I don’t like something Bill O’Reilly says and I say so publicly, he has a right to come over and punch me?
Uh, No. That’s how it works in the street. Run your mouth, get your ass beat. Just that simple.
Yes, I understand this is how it works in our degraded culture. What surprises me is your approving tone. Even back in the days of Code Duello, an offending party could avoid violent retribution by refusing to fight.
