Akron police say they aren’t ready to call it a hate crime or a gang initiation.
But to Marty Marshall, his wife and two kids, it seems pretty clear.
It came after a family night of celebrating America and freedom with a fireworks show at Firestone Stadium. Marshall, his family and two friends were gathered outside a friend’s home in South Akron.
Out of nowhere, the six were attacked by dozens of teenage boys, who shouted ”This is our world” and ”This is a black world” as they confronted Marshall and his family.
The Marshalls, who are white, say the crowd of teens who attacked them and two friends June 27 on Girard Street numbered close to 50. The teens were all black.
”This was almost like being a terrorist act,” Marshall said. ”And we allow this to go on in our neighborhoods?”

….Sigh….. and they wonder why people like the stormfront crowd, feel they way that they do. Sort of reminds me of another so-called Non-Hate crime.
Update: …and of course, the Democratic Underground is already panning this as some angry White Guy getting beat up. Like Black people would never beat up White people. Yeah right…

I caught note of this blatant hate crime on Drudge Report, then took to see if there were any other reports out on the Web. The news channel websites for the Akron area aren’t even mentioning the color of the assailants. Talk about irresposible reporting. Shame on the media and the police for trying to coddle a select group of loud-mouthed, hypersensitive jackasses.
When will us (Snipped No name calling in here…. You can make your point without that…) get it? A hate crime is whatever “they” — the all knowing elite Northeastern latte and limousine liberals and the media — say is a hate crime.

I am pro-constitution, pro-life, pro-defense, pro-individual, pro-business, pro-free speech, pro-gun, pro-religion, pro-legal immigration, and pro-private health care. Every one these (snipped…. no threats please). Then the same thing should be done to their families their pets and their plants. If that makes me a racist then so be it. It’s time we stand up and be counted before the “wimp in chief” destroys our country.

Cajun – you’re so right. One of the people on that discussion forum asks “When have we ever heard someone say ‘This is a black world!’?” I teach in the inner city, and I frequently hear “It’s Obama time, b****!” I’ve grown used to it. Pretty crazy, that’s all I can say.

That’s just rich what they’re saying over at that liberal forum. For one thing, I highly doubt any provocation took place. And even if it did, would that really justify 50 teenagers attacking the group of six? Al Sharpton says infuriating stuff about white people all the time. Does that mean it’s okay for me to grab way too many people for him to have a fighting chance, and commence a butt-whooping the likes of which your daddy’s belt has never seen?
Also I’m still very irked by the hesitance (or rather at this point, the downright refusal,)to label this a hate crime. I’m betting their excuse is that it’s a bunch of kids “being kids.” Well, I seem to recall a group of white teenagers who decided to spray-paint racial epithets on the walls of a black church. That immediately got called a hate crime. There’s a good chance those kids were just buttholes, rather than racists.
This is a hate crime. Stop trying to sugarcoat it, America. It’s actons like this that truly need to be addressed in the media. The only way we can even reach an inkling of equality is for us to send the message out that NO ONE DESERVES SPECIAL TREATMENT.

Okay gang…. here’s the deal. I have had to snip some comments that went overboard.
I understand that some of you are understandably upset at this story. I share your anger.
But I cannot and will not tolerate racist comments, nor will I tolerate threats or suggestions of violence.
This can cause ME problems with law enforcement and I just do not need this, at all.
Let me say this, stooping to the level of people, who do stuff like this, solves nothing at all, okay?

In my opinion several crimes were committed. Battery, aggravated battery and mob action, and yes believe hate was a motivating factor in the crime. What is the world coming to? The U.S. Attorney for that district should get a grand jury together and pass out a lot of indictments, maybe even a few working at the Police Dept.
Hey Brad, is this the same US Attorney General who branded us all “cowards?” Yeah, I doubt that’ll happen on its own merit.
I’m a little tired of this pity party that we, the unspoken majority, have placed on this issue. If you think this is a discriminatory act that the police and media are refusing to label this as a hate crime, then by all means SPEAK UP! Nothing ever gets resolved by sitting on your duff. Pat, it would do us all a tremendous service to post contact information for the Akron PD and news sources, but I think bringing this to the forefront has already been a great job on your part.
