David Frum gets fired

Yes, it is true. David Frum got released from The National Center for Policy Analysis. Now, if you will pardon me, while I try to stifle a giggle. You see, I have not forgotten about how he spoke about those, especially the Paleo-Conservatives; who disagreed with Bush on the Iraq War.

The way I see it, this is nothing more than sweet justice. Believe you me, I am not the only one who feels this way.

However, on the other hand. I did agree, to a certain extent, with his assessment, as to why the right lost their battle in the healthcare debate.  However, I felt it was more because of the idiot and quite repugnant behavior of some of the Tea Party folks.

Either way, in these rough times, I do not like the idea of someone being set out in the cold. However, I do not look for Frum to be unemployed for very long at all. David Frum is a very public name and I tend to believe that there will be someone there at the ready, to put the man back to work. That is, if you consider sitting at a keyboard and writing your opinion on a website; actual work. I am quite sorry to have to say this; but this, what I am doing right now, is NOT REAL WORK.

Real work is driving a 53 ft. Semi truck all over the damned Country for little pay and on little sleep. Real work is driving a 24ft straight truck, loading and unloading Pallets off of a truck with manual hand jack. Real work is getting up at 4 o’clock in the morning and working from 5 o’clock in the morning till 5 o’clock in the evening. Real work is working your tail off in a foundry somewhere hammering out a product for your boss and trying to make a living for your family and feeding your children. Real work is loading and unloading trucks on a dock, while your punk boss yells at you for being too slow. Real work is working on a assembly line, and trying to keep up, while the boss speeds up the line. What I, and the rest of the idiots do in this Blogosphere; is not real work at all. However, I do write for some of those people. Those who are not Republicans; but are just damned tired of the Government taking their hard earned money, all to pay for some welfare queen to live “High on the hog”, while the rest of American actually has to work for a living.

So, yes, as you can tell, I come from that background. Let’s just say that I have been there and done that. I do not have some sort of idiotic degree; but rather I have something that David Frum does not have. I actually have life experience. I have actually worked for a living, and I have a royally screwed up back and knees to show for it. But this, real work? Please. I have done real work and this is not nothing like real work.

I wish Frum the best.

  1. Patrick,

A great deal of the hard working truck drivers, dock attendants, assembly line workers, and the like are the very same people you claim to have, “Idiot and quite repugnant behavior.” Patrick, if you ever wish that “Real work,” is something you would again enjoy doing, please, start with research before you write. Most of the men and women who act in the behavior you describe are not, in any way, a part of or involved in the Tea Party
    movement.

    1. Lanette,

I realize that not everyone in the Pea Party movement is like that. But it’s that small bunch that ruin it for others. There should have been some better guidance given to those who choose to participated in the movement.

      Just a thought.

  2. David Frum was fired for telling the truth. What he said about the wrong-headedness of the failed GOP Health Care strategy was obviously true but what he said about FAUX News and the “conservative-entertainment-industry” leading rather than cheer-leading the Republican Party is monumentally important. Despite all of the disagreements I’ve had with Frum over the years, rather than gloat over David Frum’s firing, I want to praise his courage, and the correctness of his observations.

    1. Yeah, Joey, I agree. But I still snicker at the fact that the very people that he was sucking up to. The ones who told him to slam the Paleo-Conservatives. Are the one’s who fired him. I have to laugh at that. 😛

  3. Lanette: Successful political movements train and discipline their members, so that idiots do not discredit them with public displays of overt racism and homophobia which taint everyone involved.

The Tea-Party Movement took genuine concerns about taxes and the solvency of our economy that are shared by millions of Americans, and perverted them into a weapon to kill health-care reforms that will benefit more-than-harm most of the people protesting in the street. The tea-party movement lost it’s legitimacy, when it became a corporate tool. What do you have in common with Dick Armey, except that he gets paid a lot of money to use you, by perverting your protest to serve his corporate clients? The Tea-Party began as an attempt to broaden the base of the Libertarian Party with shared concerns about “Big Government,” but it soon became a mouth-piece for big corporations. The several ways that this movement has been twisted around and abused are a sad lesson the real politics, but amateur night is over. It’s time to stop and think about what you have learned from this experience. It is also time to eat the bitter fruit of extremist rhetoric and time, for you, to be more critical of the faire that’s fed you on FOX News, if you hope to ever make a positive contribution to our political process.

Please don’t drop out of our political process. Our economy is in a very precarious place. Those of us who share your concerns about fiscal responsibility, need support to pass legislation that re-regulates the financial industry in reasonable ways; regs that do not over-constrict capitalism, but do protect depositors from backing gamblers, investors from giving their money to mountebanks, and borrowers from being victimized by predators. When you come back without the distasteful baggage of the Tea-Party movement, you will be welcomed. There is much work to do.

  4. There is a wonderful song. by Oscar Brown, Jr., called “the Snake.”

“Take me in tender woman, take me in for heaven’s sake. Take me in tender woman cried the snake.

The last line after she feed him and he bites her is: “BUT YOU KNEW I WAS A SNAKE WHEN YOU TOOK ME IN.”

    Yes, Patrick… I got it…jt
