UPDATED: Gulp: This does not look good people

Video: (Via TPM)

Be Sure and watch the ENTIRE clip before you holler at me. Well, at least from where I started it, till it ends. Again, it’s not looking good for O’Donnell — at all. 🙁

The Story:

Here’s another wonderful gem from Christine O’Donnell’s past as a frequent guest on TV shows. Back in 1996, when then-Speaker Newt Gingrich’s finances were being investigated, O’Donnell complained that people were on a witch hunt to find anything to get Gingrich, instead of paying attention to serious ethics scandals — like putting Bill Clinton on trial for the supposed murder of Deputy White House Counsel Vince Foster.

Back in the 1990s, a favorite right-wing conspiracy theory was the accusation that the Clintons had arranged the murder of Foster, a former law partner of Hillary Clinton, in the midst of the Whitewater investigations. Multiple investigations, including the work of Clinton-hunting independent counsel Kenneth Starr, have all concluded that Foster committed suicide. However, O’Donnell was squarely in the conspiracy camp back then.

That is not the half of it. There is this here and here.

I hate to be the one to sound like a Eeyore. But the more I am hearing about this young lady; the more I am truly beginning to believe that she might just be a bit too extreme; and might just be damaged goods and may just not end up winning. I know that there those who are trying their damnedest to defend her, and man I give them props. But this just might end up being a lost damned cause.

I am not saying were should throw in the towel on her. But we should, just as Karl Rove and others have said; be real about this and not get too overly expectant of a landslide —- especially in Delaware. Like I wrote before, I am not saying she cannot do it. However, I do not think it would be unreasonable to be a bit realistic about this and expect the left to flush her out; which, as you can see, they are already doing.

It, it’s, just too bad man. I thought she might have been the golden girl. 🙁 Turns out, she is more of a ugly duckling. 🙄

UPDATE: Daniel Foster over at NRO’s “The Corner” Blog points out something rather important.

  1. Take a gander at Legal Insurrection. Ms O’Donnell made her comments in 96, it wasn’t until 97 that the official report came out and the story died. She wasn’t the only one asking questions back then.
I hope she does well. She can’t be any worse than the others in that collection of crooks and crazies that currently occupy the House. And she can’t be as crazy as that McKinney woman from Georgia was.

  2. Bandwidth is to slow at the moment to watch.

But I see several turns of the liberal worm here. One of the attacks on O’Donnell was “out of state support,” that line of attack is now muted. It also seems those who do not want her to win are going back to the “gate” years. This is new they have resisted at every level going back to through this history. Coon’s has said he was not going to go negative – he seems to be trying to work this such that “he” is not the one doing it but I don’t believe that Obama tactic is going to be effective.

Sadly it is possible that O’Donnell might lose. Conservatives may not pick up the seat – in fact it is a longshot based on what can be seen and measured for her to win – in any other election year it would be impossible. Let me remind that Castle was no conservative he voted against a long list of conservative issues e.g. tax and trade, gun rights, life, freedom of speech for non-politically correct speech … Only people who like Castle are neo-cons who say an R seat matters because the majority party gets to pick important positions in the Senate. However they don’t seem to be interested in that “R” if it is next to a conservative; And, in another breath they say maybe it would be good not to have the majority in both senate and house so problems can be blamed on democrats. Conservatives have very little to lose by trying.

Another interesting point is that these scandals, which they are digging up (and appears may be intentionally misquoting information or fabricating it), are not liberal platform issues. Since when did liberals check if somebody paid of their student loans, or for that matter paid their taxes, before fielding the candidate? The issue is important for the moral vote not the liberal vote. Delaware has historically been a liberal state the only chance that may exist for a conservative seat would be the grassroots efforts of Christians on issues such as the pro-life movement — note:pointing that out on a Neo-con site may get you banned.

How this will play out is going to be interesting, Can TPM say Charlie Rangel. If the liberals are mused enough they may lose in other areas.
