Touchy…Touchy…Touchy….

E-mail a guy and get your…ahem, cut off. (ouch!) ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

I am referring to Donald Douglas. I e-mailed him, He is, like me, a Hendrix Fan.Which is an awesome thing, Hendrix was awesome player. He also inspired me to learn how to play guitar.

I guess he thought I was angry, which I wasn’t. He has in his sidebar over at America Power, a version of Jimi Hendrix’s “Purple Haze” done on a British TV show; Jimi’s all turned down, his Marshall sounds horrible. I begged Don to change the video. I guess he thought I was angry or something. I was not at all. I was teasing the guy. Guess I should have dropped in a smiley or two. ๐Ÿ˜€

To respond to his posting:

Actually, I’m quite open to suggestions for music posts. But why Patrick’s “shock” at seeing a Hendrix video in the sidebar? It’s no big deal. The dude obviously should spend some time visiting AmPow before going off!

1. I was not going off, 2. I do come over there, when I see link from Memeorandum. I don’t have time to read everyone else’s blog. I’m usually too busy running my own. Sorry. ๐Ÿ˜€

I’ve been around the rock-and-roll block a few times, eh?

Which is another way of saying, “I’m old…” ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜†

Not only that, I can’t stand paleocons, actually. So, advance demerits for that.

Um, I guess I’ll have to clear that one up too. ๐Ÿ™„ I am not, any longer, calling myself a Paleo-Con or Paleo-Pat. Why? It become quite apparent to me that the whole Paleo-Con/Neo-Con thing is really about a bunch of sour pusses, who really just resented former Democrats coming over to the Conservative, not to mention monolithic hatred of Jews and other Minorities.ย  While I have mad respect for the Paleo-Cons/Libertarians on fiscal issues; the good majority of which are just not grounded in reality. The Paleo-Cons and libertarians or Ron Paul people, if you wanna call them that; want to live in a Utopian society. Some of them a Non-Jewish, all white society. Having said all that, Yes, I disagree with Bush’s Wilsonian foreign policy. Something that is, admittedly, progressive in nature; as Glenn Beck rightly points out on his show. But, unlike the Paleo-Con’s and libertarians, I do believe that the war on terror is quite the reality. However, I highly dislike the idea of nation building. But I am not overly ideological about it.ย  I believe pragmatism goes a long way in dealing with the issues of the World, than does being a stubborn ideologue. That’s the whole problem of the Paleo-Con and libertarian crowd. They’re just too damn rooted in a isolationist and protectionist ideology. So, to Donald, Richard Spencer I am not! ๐Ÿ˜€

That said, Patrick whines a lot about not getting FMJA links, so I’ll toss him a bone. Nice videos as well, although I quite dig that one at the sidebar — obviously an early rendition of “Purple Haze,” raw in its styling and percussion.

Whines Alot?!?! Why I oughta… ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ˜€

Worry about your own blog circling the drain, buddy.

Ha! ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜‰ Lemmie tell you something there Neo-Con boy! When you get off that suck-ass Blogger, which is, by the way, owned by the very liberal GOOGLE ( ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ) and could shut you down at any moment’s notice, like they did Hillary people and some Conservatives, for criticizing “The One”; and get you some real hosting and a WordPress Blog —- then you can criticize me and my blog.ย  ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜†

Otherwise, put a sock in it Podhartz lackey! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜†

Guess I told him… Harrumph… ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

  1. Anyone who’s spent time at AmPow knows what I think of Douglas’ politics… …but even putting that aside, he’s kind of a douchebag, as your post here so aptly shows. He has no understanding of sarcasm, and has yet to learn that he is not the center of the universe. He gets kinda cranky when someone doesn’t see things his way, and all too frequently lashes out, just like he did to you…

When it comes right down to it, I feel sorry for him…

    1. Well now, my post was all in fun. I think he knows that.

I approved your comment, because I believe in freedom of speech. But, I think your nastiness was uncalled for.

  2. Patrick: Comment sections aren’t designed for “freedom of speech.” Repsac3’s a troll. Plain and simple. I’ve kicked his butt so many times he follows around any blogger who mentions me so he can try to land a swift kick. Real loser. Approve or disapprove of this comment, I don’t care. Frankly, in your case, you still haven’t explained why you were “shocked” that I’d post Hendrix. I’m not that old, actually, especially compared to yourself. It’s called “middle age,” and it’s a nice place to be. As for Blogger, I’ve written many times about WordPress fail. And why do so many folks continue to use Blogger? Even REALLY big bloggers continue to use Blogger. Must not be too worried about getting deleted. As I am not.

P.S. You have a nice blog, FWIW. More on palecon fail might be in order, IMHO.

    1. Patrick: Comment sections arenโ€™t designed for โ€œfreedom of speech.โ€

      They are here.

Repsac3โ€™s a troll. Plain and simple.

I kind of gathered this. There are many of those on the left.

Frankly, in your case, you still havenโ€™t explained why you were โ€œshockedโ€ that Iโ€™d post Hendrix.

Many Conservatives are not big fans of Hendrix. In fact, there’s a blog posting somewhere of a Conservative really hammering Hendrix.

Iโ€™m not that old, actually, especially compared to yourself. Itโ€™s called โ€œmiddle age,โ€ and itโ€™s a nice place to be.

Dude, I am only 37 years old. How I feel now, is another story. ๐Ÿ˜€

As for Blogger, Iโ€™ve written many times about WordPress fail. And why do so many folks continue to use Blogger? Even REALLY big bloggers continue to use Blogger. Must not be too worried about getting deleted. As I am not.

Fair point about Blogger. As for WordPress; The only WordPress blogs that “Fail” are the ones who are set up by idiots that have zero clue how to set them properly.

P.S. You have a nice blog, FWIW. More on palecon fail might be in order, IMHO.

Thank you, and basically what I wrote sums it up for me.

      Thanks for the comments! ๐Ÿ˜€

  3. Believe as you will (both Patrick and americaneocon himself, for that matter)… I thought Donald’s post in reply to yours was rather nasty and completely uncalled for, and was right in line with his attacks on others who didn’t see things just his way, either politically or personally… (I can point you to several fellow conservatives he’s attacked, because he misinterpreted their largely innocuous comments or posts about something he wrote.)

That said, I’m glad you can maintain your good humor about the whole thing, and forgive him his trespasses… (I must say, the guy’s pretty lucky that way… He treats folks (including his fellow cons) like dirt, and they let him get away with it and go on back for more…) Perhaps one day you’ll see him as I do, or perhaps you never will. Either way though, I wish you well…

    1. Believe as you will (both Patrick and americaneocon himself, for that matter)

      AmericanNeocon IS Donald Douglas. ๐Ÿ˜€

(I can point you to several fellow conservatives heโ€™s attacked, because he misinterpreted their largely innocuous comments or posts about something he wrote.)

      Please Do.

Either way though, I wish you wellโ€ฆ

      Thanks. ๐Ÿ˜€

  4. Personally, I’m shocked when I see videos such as Hendrix or the Stones at AmPow because, and this may not have been in all the papers, but those guys did a lot of drugs. I’m 53 and came to maturity believing “purple haze” referred to the effects of LSD. I don’t picture Donald as dropping a lot of acid. It would explain some things, though. I see he has some Tull up now. Step in the right direction. Ian is a non-druggy salmon farmer. Off topic, but I see the rule 5 posts as a little bizarre as well.

As far as trolls go, there are many on the left and right. Maybe you consider me to be a troll for this comment. Whatever. Some blogs consider Donald to be a troll. I saw your original comments at AmPow and understood what you were saying and that there was no malice intended. I have seen other instances, as Repsac points out, where Donald needs to have sarcasm pointed out to him. Donald, Repsac and I all have a history which I’m certain is going to be pointed out if he continues this thread.

And yes, Donald has kicked all of our butts in debate so many times that we’ve lost count. He is the Muhammed Ali (not counting Joe Frazier) of bloggers. Then he does a victory dance like he wants to do with the “paleocon fail” comment. But, maybe that’s sarcasm. Who knows? Can’t really see where neoconservatism has been a glowing success. Anyhoo, post or not.

  5. AmericanNeocon IS Donald Douglas.

Well technically, Donald Douglas IS American eocon (there’s no second “N,” perhaps because, in his mind, being a neocon is the only way to be a “real” American.) But yes, I was aware. As Ex-DLB–and to some extent, Donald himself–pointed out, the professor and I go back a long way… I only used his Americaneocon appellation here because that is the name under which he posted.

    Please Do.

I thought a good bit about whether to engage on this point, but I’m going to decline, at least until goaded on further… Several instances of this kind of behavior are posted on my blog and on his own, and I just don’t have the energy to dig ’em all up and rehash them again. (Besides, is this really the kinda thing you want filling up your comment section?) If I were to name names though, I’d probably begin by suggesting that you do a search of a guy named Paleo Pat, and read the unpleasant comments Donald Douglas would write in reply to that guy when he made occasional comments at American Power… (And for the record, I know who Paleo Pat IS, too…) Then you might wish to check out the Erin Andrews saga, (one example, from a third party) the faux liberty bell situation, his war on Conner Friedersdorf, his war on the Ordinary Gentlemen blog and everyone who writes for it, … (and yes, there are others… But given your feelings as expressed elsewhere, I hesitate to bother going on, fearful that you will just refuse to see any of it… …and besides, I said I wasn’t going to get into it, didn’t I? ๐Ÿ˜ˆ )

As I said in my earlier comment, you’re welcome to think and feel as you will… …but from where I’m sitting, one is only Don’s friend as long as s/he’s willing to tow his particular party line… Strike too far out on your own (or use sarcasm or some other literary device he fails to comprehend), and you get added to his ever-growing enemies list–your willingness to take the punch and give him the benefit of the doubt notwithstanding…
